Pictus, Viper or Leopard
My tokay gecko Larry is moving from a 10 gallon tank to a 40 gallon tank. I just want to here your thoughts of these 3 geckos. Any info about keeping the geckos would be really appreciated.
Just a question, after a passing of one of your herps did you get a new herp or did you just put the cage away for good. i just want to know if you think it would be bad to put another herp in a deceased herps cage. Thanks |

I've personally never seen a problem with reusing a tank, but before you put anything new in the tank, make sure you clean it out and use bleach so any bacteria and viruses are completedly killed. All I can tell you on those three species of gecko is that leopards are very easy to take care of but require a different environment than say your tokay. you'll have to buy lighting fixtures and such for a leopard gecko.

You'll most likely get the most suggestions for the leopard gecko. They're widley regarded as one of the best beginner reptiles, period. Even for someone who's not a beginner, they're still just darn easy compared to many other herps, they're widely available, and there's no shortage of helpful information on them.
If you want a sure bet, go with the leo. They're also one of the few lizards calm enough to handle. I personally am attracted to the unique more than the easy though, so if it were me, I'd go with the viper gecko. Pictus geckos supposedly have a relatively short lifespan as far as lizards go.
