Rescue

I went outside to see what my dog was making such a fus about and to my surprise he was crying and looking at a common garter snake. Today was about minus 5 degrees with winchill and raining and I knew something was wrong. The snake was feebly attempting to get back in to his hole I noticed that my father had covered the hole up. I piked him up and he willingly cuddled up to me for warmth. I caled my mom and asked her if I could take care of him until spring and she said yes but youll have to make sure with your dad (has a big phibia of snakes) So since it was him who covered the hole I figure mankind owes this snake one.

Im going to take care of him (I named him Edgar) and I would like to know what conditions that I could give him that he would thrive in and be most confortable. Any tips would be much appreciated thanks. (I have never taken care of a snake but have done much reading) Feeding habbits, Temp, whatever. hes about 1.5-2 feet long.

He should do fine in a 10 gal. aquarium and under the same conditions as your bearded dragon. In the wild their main diet is earthworms and small fishes and some will love pinkie mice. If the aquarium is on the cool side he may just brumate for the winter. Make sure that he always has fresh water and offer food every week or so but don't be surprised if he doesn't eat till spring.
