First herping of the season

Woohoo! The warm weather is here to stay! The woodchucks are out, the trees are blooming, my room is already way too warm for comfort, ahh, its spring I went out last night, not expecting to find much, but I was wrong!

There's an area right near my dorms that's great for finding a few amphibians at this time of year. The spring peepers breed there like crazy, and although I heard them, I didn't see any last night. My skills are a little rusty, I'll catch some later and take pics when I get my camera.

I also saw a young green frog though, and caught a really ugly crayfish, which I think I'll keep with my current blue one. I named her Pestilence, cause she's an ugly brown-green color with burnt red eyeshine. She reminds me of disease and filth, so Pestilence it is.

As the weeks go by I'll expect to see some American toads taking the place of the spring peepers, and maybe see some snakes this year.

Ahhh nothing like a little delicious edible crustacean to remind us of disease and filth

Glad you found somethings though, I haven't been having much luck of it...yet

I'm getting around to it! You shouldn't have picked such an expensive camera for me to get

Around a nature center I go to there is a river full of them. When I mean full I mean you can't step on the bottom with out stepping on one.
