Ive seen an Injury like that before, I bet its from a spedboat propeller...thank goodness for turtle shells!

Poor turtle! It does look like a propeller injury now that you mention it....I'm glad it wasn't worse for her!

Not quite. Its a cooter, looks like a florida cooter ( Pseudemys floridana floridana)

Thank you for identifying it for me! I had no idea, actually, what kind of turtle it was...just that it was a pretty one. She was funny while I was taking her picture...she didn't like me one bit and couldn't wait for me to leave. When I turned to go, she took off in the opposite direction as fast as she could go
