Well this weekend I randomly decided to go in search for ghost frogs (
Heleophryne sp.). Rare frogs that inhabit isolated fast moving mountain streams, with cold water!
They have always been a goal to find and I have never had success. Only ever found 2 tadpoles before. This trip I came right! Whoot...will post froggy pics soon.
The tadpoles take 2 years to morph into frogs! Really interesting things. They live deep in rock cracks under waterfalls. We hiked up a whole river system in a gorge here...it is really dark and eery and quite dense rainforest. Love the place. Going was somtimes tough...and sketchy!! Sheer drops on super slippery rocks..going against oncoming water. Was fun though...and worth it! Just some random pics frogging, sorry for quality, these suck! I was soaked and could not be bothered getting great shots

...Thought I better snap 1 or 2.
Ok here you can see a small section of falls. The waterfall "layers" look tiny in the picture. But the photograph underneath shows me on just one of the hundreds of layers! They are quite BIG!
and here is my mate that I went herping with...you can see how dark the rainforest is.
