Most of my herps are from the field, sagebrush lizard, fence lizard, northern pond turtle, many others. The one that gave me the most trouble was the short horned lizard, I had to go through the forest service, they are not endangered, but there numbers are going down, so it was illigal to just go and pick one up... Also they are very hard to find!

I'm not much for catching things outside. I think that things from the wild should stay in the wild. Hence all my frogs are captive bred.

they have to come from somewhere at some stage...people must never forget that! But ofcourse...once a stable gene pool of captive animals is being bred....one should always get captive bred....without a doubt!!! for many reasons

I have a few tanks that I use for caught animals to keep overnight to get pictures. But other than that the only wild caught animal I have is one of my corn snakes.

I get that whatever captive bread you get, came from a wild caught at one point, but if there is an option for keeping a captive bred one, I would go for that first.

I personally dont see a problem doing it, so long as it is legal, you dont over due it, and you quaritine(think I spelled it right...) them. I do respect others desision not to though
