my first US herping...first rattler!yaya
well went for my first little try at herping here in the usa. Went road cruising in the desert east of sandiego. Had to see my first rattler.... weather was really cold though...so it was not looking good.

But alas....first herp spotted... a real tiny crotalus ruber! yaya...my first wild rattler! never rattled to much though....haha was so calm. Cold weather I hink, plus red diamond backs are knowen to be stoic.

then saw a huge glossy snake. A western banded gecko followed...and ended off with a tiny leaf nosed snake. Weather got real windy and cold and called it a night at 1 am. Maybe next time will be more lucky with weather but am happy with my first herps so far.

Nice pictures but I would like to point out to our members that it is really NOT a good idea to pick up live rattlesnakes by the tail!

oops yeah....forgot.Thanks merlin. Don't try and do that! i just know what I am doing. it was like a puff adder with a musical instrument on it haha. yeah I was in control of the snake and by no means "free handeling it". Thanks the comments guys...look forward to my next herping experience
