Yeah, they are real funny about that, one being if you are caught in the park with something , you could say that you caught it, but might actually be releasing it! I see any chance of eradicating them; There are an estimated 250,000 of them now. Crazy! I know guys that go out and find half a dozen in a short few hours. They love the canals and levy's.

We've done it as well. A buddy that did the alligator demonstrations at the croc park there right before the head enterance kept a few. Last I heard none have calmed down any.

You look familiar.

We go in Dec, spring and then June so pretty much anytime of year. It stays quite warm all year. Everglades parkway is the best spot to see them at night.

It really makes no sense to me that you cannot legally remove them from the park,,,they have spent countless taxpayers dollars coming up with a plan for the removal of exotics,,,,and they'd be lucky if it was slowing them down a fraction. Oh well. Best of luck.

everglades herping

I've read about it but never gone down that way. I'm already in Florida, so it's really a shame. Speaking of that, have you FL herpers been keeping up with the changing laws? From what I understand, anyone keeping large constrictor breeds have to register them. this applies even if yours is currently small, as they go off maximum attainable size. I dont know if it applies to my IJCPs or not. I have to check.

Maybe we can get together and go on a glades burmese hunt together one day. My wife said she'd love to take a trip down there. I turned her from being afraid of anything scaly to loving snakes in no time. :P I love having a wife that shares my interests.
