Dev, I'm near 100% what you've got there are
Damon annulatipes. Considering where Durban is, that's the only species you should encounter there as far as I know. However,
Damon variegatus' southernmost known range isn't that far north of you, near Swaziland (maybe a couple hundred kilometers?), but your best bet is with
D. annulatipes. I believe the genus
Damon went under some revisions, but I'm neither certain of how long ago or what the outcome was. To the best of my knowledge, these species are up to date.
Comparatively, the only species common in the pet trade in the U.S. is
Damon diadema (often mistaken for
D. variegatus, which isn't as common in the trade as research may cause one to believe). To the best of my knowledge, no
D. annulatipes are kept in the trade, and certainly not bred.
