SA id quiz No.2
Hi there folks and welcome to South African ID quiz NO.2!
The fastest growing game on the net....well not really.
This time it is not a snake...and for matt I have put a side on shot..lol
Some of you may even have one in your collection so let see...
I found it in the Western half of South Africa( Not north america!  ) in the karoo..that's your clue.
I don't have to tell you what kinda herp it is...i hope
well here we go...

Looks like a Big Headed gecko to me.(Paroedura pictus)

LOL Ken, I thought you were kidding, but not only does "Big headed gecko" exist, it really looks like that! 
My guess was going to be "It's a gecko". Shows how good I am at this game!

Sorry Ken, but Aiden's on the right track on this one. Pictus geckos (aka big-headed geckos, aka Madagascan ocelot geckos) aren't found on continental Africa as far as I know. They're from Madagascar.
This is definately a Ptenopus species, but I don't think it's P. carpi. It looks more like either P. garrulus or P. kochi. Again, all I know on these species is that they can be found in southern Africa. Since neither gecko has a yellow throat, and since P. kochi is found in Namibia, I'm going with P. kochi (Koch's chirping gecko) I think. I'm not completely ruling out the possibility of a P. garrulus, or common barking gecko (which I think are more common in captivity than P. kochi, and considering your clue, that could make THIS the correct species), but considering what little I know of the genus, this is the best educated guess I've got at this point
