Recycled paper bedding for feeder mice and rats?
Hi. I would like to know is it ok to use recycled paper bedding for mice and rats. I currently have two trays set up with this bedding called Back-2-Nature as seen here
http://www.fibercycle.com.au/ (the green bag, NOT the cat litter). It has worked well with some of my herps and controls odors very well and is very absorbent and doesn't disintegrate much when wet etc., perfect. But with the rats, it seems that they are actually picking them up, and nibbling on them! Is this ok? I do know that there are supposed to be no chemical additives to the paper and it says it is safe if consumed in small quantities, and I don't know if the mice/rats are actually eating them as food, or just picking them up for something to nibble on... Will this be ok? I will be feeding them to ball pythons in a week or two. I am not looking to breed them, just fatten them up a bit before feeding as the bigger mice were not available. If they eat the paper pellets, will it cause "badness" of any sort to the snake that eats the mouse/rat afterwards? And is it normal for them to chew on their bedding material? Or are they actually eating them as food?? |

They are prolly just nibbling to shred them up...as long as there are no additives...I dont see a problem....Lyn
