A strange question
I have been looking into getting earthworms for my CWDs for a while and the only place I can find the night crawlers is at bait shops.
I don't know what the worms are raised in, or if they can carry parasites to my lizards either. I guess I'm wondering if I should go ahead and try to get some worms from there and maybe put them in sterile soil for a week or so before feeding them to my lizards? Or should I just look for a supplier online that deals specifically with worms for feeders?

Hi earth worms are very good for a treat for them becaues earth worms are high in fat and so are the other worms like wax worms. So yes you can give it to your lizared but only for a treat. Holly

have you asked about them at your pet store? most cricket suppliers also carry earthworms and they could get them in for you with the crickets they get in
as for bait shop ones.....i dunno....i think i'd rather go dig them up myself than buy bait shop ones

That's not what I hear but never seen it myself before. I wouldn't risk it. God knows in what conditions most inverts are raised for food, I can't really imagine the conditions when they're destined for bait.

I wouldn't get them from the bait shop if you can help it. My dad gets alot of organic gardening magazines that have ads for orgainic worms to help your garden, you might go that route...

Lacey,
I was just thinking the same thing about organic worms. I have read some where that some people will keep a bin of them under their kitchen sink and just throw scraps of vegs in with them. It would be worth looking into..

Thanks for the ideas. I really want to give my CWDs earthworms sometimes but to give them the stringy little things that they sell at petco is just pathetic.
