Silkworms

well I got a juvinal size trial kit from silkwormfarm.com and I like them, most of my animals take them and their great for milly my picky anole.
my dune geckos dont like them and my small toad wont take them
4 Bearded Dragons
my holaspis geuntheri
my adult american toad
my green anole and my leopard gecko will all take them
im going to keep about ten large ones back and try to breed them they grow very fast!
they wont be able to replace crickets entirly for me becuase some of my herps wont touch them but if I can breed them they really cut down on the amout of crickets I need to get I just have to see how much the chow is going to cost me each month im hoping it'll cost less then the cricket bill for the month anyone else feed silkworms?

We haven't tried silkworms yet, but they're supposed to be very nutritious,. only thing that puts us off right now is the price - over here they are pretty expensive. I might get them as a one-off treat but it would cost quite a bit to feed them to everyone.

Hello,

I use them on occasion because of the price as well. When I get a bigger place, I intend on breeding them for feeder use. I have family in california, so I shouldn't have a problem getting Mulberry leaves.

Silkworms are very nutritious for herps but alas many herps wont touch them I like to blend them up in baby food along with a few dusted crickets for those who I spoon feed.
