When I wack the rat over the head or against something I always get blood. Then I am washing it off in order to freeze it, what a mess. I will try the neck thing, it's most logical.

Just buy Frozen!!! I use Rodentpro.com (along with other members) In the long run it saves you allot of money. I'm going to use a jumbo rat as an example, to buy live they cost $8.99 around here, Frozen is about $1.80 each. I use quite a few with the amount of snakes I have here, I can't see wasting that much money and then still having to dispatch the thing myself. The service is quick, the packaging is excellent, the quality is uneqauled from Rodentpro.com. (And no I don't get a discount for saying that, I wish I did)

As soon as my snakes are all grown and eating the same size rodents, I intend to order from Rodentpro. It will end up costing almost half of what frozen costs me locally. That's even including shipping cost. (I pay $1.00 a piece for frozen fuzzies or hoppers at a local pet store, whereas for example, it would come to about 58 cents a piece if I bought 100 frozen hoppers from Rodentpro.)
Right now though, my little ones are growing so fast, I'm afraid they might not be able to eat up 100 fuzzies or hoppers before they need the next size up...or is it ok as they grow to feed them two or three or even four of the smaller size prey instead of single items of larger prey? As far as buying and feeding live, or buying live and then killing them before I give them to my snake... no way! I couldn't do it!

I would aways use up whatever feeders I have even if it means doubling up to use the rest of them.
Rodent pro all the way!
