Exclamation Male Field Cricket Can't Chirp?

I have a Brown Fall Field Cricket that's trying real hard to chirp but hardly makes a sound! Why is this?

Sounds more like a blessing than a problem to me... lol.

Sorry, I don't know a thing about crickets... can't help.

Maybe he is not mature enough to chirp! Is this one that you've hatched or a wild caught one?

Wild caught. He has fully developed wings. I just hope it isn't a virus I've heard about on crickets.

Do you know the difference between a male and a female?

Yes. Females have a middle structure called the Ovipositer. This cricket doesn't have this structure.
