    Breeding Crickets Question.

Hey everyone, i'm new to these forums, and i have a question.
I have been looking at alot of cricket breeding guides, and tutorials. i think i know everything there is to the process, theres just one thing that no one seems to explain
-when do i take the soil out of the cricket tank?
-and when will they hatch in the incubator?

i put the dirt in today (sept 26) what day will i take them out?
And around what date will they hatch?

    Thanks,
    Jesse.

    Re: Breeding Crickets Question.

I never used soil myself, I use eco-earth which is a coco fibre that comes in a compressed block.

The way I did it was place adult females in their own bin with plastic dishes with the above substrate that is moistened. The females will lay their eggs, you will notice little yellowish white dots like mini grains of rice. Once you see this then take the plastic dish out and replace it with another.
Place the first plastic dish in a tub that has a low heat, keep the substrate moist but not wet. When you think that its not gonna work, you will see tiny little specks crawling around. Take out a magnifying glass to check for movement, they are small as a grain of sand. Make sure there is a source of water, I used a cotton pad and soaked it in water, also offer food.
Here is a article on them,

Alright, so once i see the little eggs i should then take the soil out?
because i've been watching the cricket colony and there's been 10-15 females already laying eggs! this was kind of exciting for me because it's so far successful .
but like, around how long should the dirt be in the cricket colony? 2-3days?

So what you are saying is that the whole cricket tank has soil on the bottom?
If so, this will now be the incubation tank! You can't remove the substrate if its container is the tank. In a few days to a week take out the crickets and place in another bin/tank! When you buy crickets as adults they have most likely already bred, so all you really need is females.
You will find it so much easier to do this in smaller containers that will fit inside the cricket bin, then you will just need to remove the small container instead of removing the crickets.
Do you have pictures of this tank?

Ok, thats better! Yes, after a few days to a week remove the container and place it in another bin with a fine screen for ventilation. Place egg crates in there, one thing that I did was make little ramps for the pinhead to get out of the substrate container and feed, drink and hide.
