Calcium for livefoods!!

Chris came home with a stuff for livefoods called calci cricket gel, has anyone ever heard of it? it states on the jar..

"calci cricket gel is ideal to keep your live foods alive very much longer, aditional there will be an increase of calcium levels in your livefoods which can achieve a calcium deficiency in your reptiles."

why would something that raises calcium levels in one thing take away calcium levels in whatever is eating it, I don't understand.

It can be used for Tarantulas too, would you use it or bin it?

Well I could use it on my Ts they arrnt being fed to anyone, but would you use it for livefoods...

LOL, someone needs to proofread better...I feel sure that they meant PREVENT a calcium deficiency in reptiles.

Adding calcium to insect diets is touchy, too much calcium can stunt insects' growth, reduce breeding, and even kill them. It's ok for gutloading just prior to feeding.
I'd still use a powdered supplement and dust the insects, though.
I would not use this product with any inverts that aren't intended to be feeders.

I was thinking that too, that they made a mistake on the jar, and someone else said its probably wrong too, I would still dust my live foods, just wondering what this stuff is like, never ever seen it before, looks more like a tub of hair gel lol
