New Holistic, Gut Load Cricket Food

A friend of mine created a new product, patent pending, called The Lucky Cricket.

It is holistic, all natural, made from health food ingredients. It is nutritionally sound for reptiles, with Vitamins Bs ,C, D, and E, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium.. It is even enhanced with D3!

He has a few friends who are avid breeders of numerous reptiles, and it has helped with MBD in bearded dragons and brightened up the coloring in chameleons. Another friend sprinkles the food on greens before giving it to his iguana and has seen similar results.

Since it is a brand new product, I convinced him to give out samples =)

Just curious what the market out there is like, if people would be interested. We have a few local pet shops carrying it, but want to go nationwide if enough people express interest. You hear about holistic dog and cat food all the time, he wanted the same type of "spoiled care" for his babies.

Any feedback, questions? Interested in a sample? Let me know! I am just the "partner" in this helping with the customer service side, but I can get him to answer all the nitty gritty details of how it works if I cant supply an answer =)

I would be interested, but has it been approved by anyone? If you could get your product out there, there is definitely consumers who will buy. The reptile world is growing and fast at that.

I would like to point out that there is no official body for certifying anything "holistic" Any manufacturer of anything can make that claim. I am not saying that your friend is deceiving people but I just wanted to throw this out there. Whether it is dog cat or cricket food the holistic claim is just that, a claim. It may still be a healthy gutload, just don't always expect a miracle.

Can you share the vitamin ratios? I know that too much Calcium will kill your crickets.

And many keepers don't want D3. I just feed my crickets veggie scraps. I find gut loads are an expensive waste of money.

I am most interested in the cost of this formulation. It has been my experience that "hollistic" also means more $$.

I would also like to know exactly what his background, education and credentials are for formulating such a product. Any one of us could toss a bunch of stuff together and and make such claims. Does he have anything to back up his claims?

Ok so now I am confused! Is this a cricket gutload or a vitamin supplement?
What would be required with dealing with MBD is much different that what would be used as a maintenance diet.

I would also point out that most herps need Vitamin A/betacarotene as well, and you did not list that in the initial description. Could you post a copy of the ingredients/vitamin ratio as requested? you'd be surprised at how many vitamins, supplements, and foods overlook Vitamin A.

I'm guessing since we haven't heard anything back - we are not getting any facts about this product, probably because there aren't any that are credible.

Somebody mixed something up in their kitchen based on their knowledge of herps (for good or bad) and now want to sell it.

I guess, they didn't figure on people asking questions -- of course if you look at all the stuff pet stores sell and promote that are actually harmful if used, too many people don't ask questions...

But they came to the wrong site to promote this product - if they were looking for the gullible, blind product buyers.....
