Nightcrawlers?
Anybody else ever feed thier Leopard Geckos nightcrawlers? I bought some at the last expo meaning to feed them to my fish and I just realized I was out of leo food so I thought: what the heck, why not? I had to hack one up (yeah yeah cruel and unusual punishment) but Duke absolutely LOVED it, which is amazing since he refuses to eat anything but waxies and crix, Camille is still deciding and Carmen is being non-cooperative although she did find the wiggling stimulating. Any reason I shouldn't give them nightcrawlers? I figure if they can have pinkies a nightcrawler won't hurt them, especially since these were cultured for consumption by herps.

I'm not sure. I have heard they are on the bad list for Leopard Geckos, though they do contain alot of calcium.

I seem to recall reading that referigerated worms developed something (bacteria perhaps) that can be harmful to herps. I'll see if I can locate the article.

Cool, thanks guys I won't give them anymore until we get a consensus. They seem to be fine however. Duke never gets so excited over food

The problem wasn't with the nightcrawlers themselves it had to do with referigerating them. I'm trying to locate the article but so far no luck.

So far the only information I have found is related to earthworms kept refrigerated for more than 5 months (putrification) so I rescind my warning.

My worms are nice and wiggly and don't smell bad. If I had to I could eat them myself so I guess they're ok for the Leopard Geckos

No, I'm having steak for dinner (organic of course) I'd never ever feed any of my animals something that I couldn't safely consume. Just because I could eat the worms (or a rat) does not mean I'm going to
