This is what our member has to say: Does anybody know who has the cheapest shipping prices on frozen feeders? I only have two snakes and don't need to buy thousands of feeders ...

Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

Does anybody know who has the cheapest shipping prices on frozen feeders? I only have two snakes and don't need to buy thousands of feeders at a time. It just seems pretty costly to spend $40 for shipping on a small order.

Thanks!
Jared

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

Sadly no, since all are frozen and need to be next day aired it will cost. Best thing to do is look for a local place, hit a reptile show, or go in on an order with someone. Where all have you looked for ordering?

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

I have looked on Rodent Pro, Big Cheese, and pretty much every other one I could find In my Reptiles magazine. I think I have found my answer though because I did find one of the ads for feeders that has really good prices is only about an hour away from me. I will wait until the next time that I go that direction and pick some up I think. I will be attending the Richmond reptile show in October too so I think I have a couple more options than I thought I did yesterday.

Thanks
Jared

Just don't forget to figure in the cost of fuel to go get them!
Depending on your vehicle's gas mileage and the fuel costs in your area it may still be cheaper to pay the shipping than to go personally!

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

The reasons Merlin stated is why I order frozen. Gas is crazy and around me the feeders that I use for my snakes are too small, but the next size up is too large. Or I just don't trust the conditions they're kept in. Plus, last time I checked, the cost was almost $2.50 a mouse. So to me it didn't make sense to go every weekend to buy 3 and waste gas at the same time. I buy 25-50 mice online and I have enough for several months at a time. To me it seems so much cheaper and all I have to do when they arrive is separate them into bags of 3 and that way I only use what I need for the week. It's great.

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

Actually the rodents themselves are pretty cheap. Its the shipping that kills you!
They have to ship with a big chunk of dry ice to make sure that the frozen rodents stay frozen. The ice adds a lot of weight!
Otherwise,......EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
You would get a big gloppy mess delivered to your door.

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

Yeah, the shipping is alot because of the dry ice they ship with the rodents to keep them cold. That's the only crappy thing I find about ordering online but so far it's been working for me.

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

Yeah, they ship mostly dry ice. The ebst thing you could do to get the most for your money is to sit down and outline. Kinda like this:

Snake 'A' Eats pinkies now(order 50) in a month or two or three snake a will eat the hoppers order 50 of that kind.

Snake B eats hoppers, order 50, in a few months snake b will eat large adults order 50.

If you can kinda outline it and not open the other bags that are sealed they will be good for a good 5 months or so. Some one correct me if I'm wrong. I'll work up a pic or something to explain it a bit better.

Re: Cheapest Shipping on Frozen Feeders?

They definitely last longer if you don't open the bag alot. That's why when I get my order in I separate them all into separate bags so I only use what I need and the rest keep longer. I've had my orders last at least 5 months that way.
