We experience fruit flies quite a bit as well,. they are particularly attracted to the snail enclosure, where the only food item is fruit and veg.. don't go in the dragons' tanks though, where there is also veg. We mainly feed the snails mixed greens and squash, along with some salads like lettuce, and the fruit flies still come, so they are not only attracted to the sweeter things like fruit.

Don't have any suggestions for you however, as they aren't really a problem for us - we don't get too many, and they don't cause a problem. Occasionally they get into the T tank but the T is too big to be bothered with a pointless meal of fruit fly

Good luck with your problem - the ants would be the things that I'd be more bothered about. Unless they can be eaten?

You could probably set something up like the fly trap, but put vasoline on the inside of the jar, and maybe wrap the outside of the jar in something easier to grip, like paper towel. Sugary stuff is usually a good bait for ants. I've used evaporated pop (soda for you weird folks) before and it worked good. Got the pop to a syruppy texture, or, now that I think about it, you could probably just use syrup It doubles as an ant killer too cause they get stuck in it and can't get out.
