Just wondering if it is safe to use bait shop crickets and mealies? Is there any difference in them?

Bait shops get their bugs from the same farms that the petshops do.
The difference is that, since they are being kept and sold for bait, they aren't really too concerned with what chemicals or other nasty things that the bugs are exposed to.
I grew up in a family of fishermen and I can tell you that baithouses aren't usually the cleanest places around.
I wouldn't chance it.

Thanks. I was just wondering. They are 2 cent cheaper at the bait shop, but I don't mind spend a few extra bucks a week.

It's okay to get them from bait shops because at times I have to do that to feed my pets, but yeah I understand about the bait shop not caring. I have dewormer that I use also incase anything happens. If the pet shop here that I work at runs out I either go to Petsmart or the bait shop. Depends on if I need worms sometimes I go to the bait shop and I can also get crickets while I'm there. I never had a problem with the bait shop crickets here. One time last year for almost a month I had to get crickets from the bait shop.

Also if I do get the feeders from the bait shop I always try gut loading before I feed any to my pets just so any unhealthy ones die and I don't feed them to the geckos.

I found a really clean bait shop. He has some pacmans and a few other frogs. He knows the importance of having good and healthy crickets. And they only cost me. 3.50 a hundred. But I am going to start raising my own crickets.
