Mealworm Shortage
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had a good website for mealworms. I know there is a mealworm shortage, but is there anywhere that has some mealworms? I've payed for 1000 mealworms from two different places who have taken my money. not shipped them or emailed me for about 2 weeks until I said something. Then they go, oh we don't have mealworms in stock, we will October. So is there any reputable places for bulk mealworms?

Re: Mealworm Shortage
Nope, They are all gone. The three main farms either had a virus or the lack of food hit them. Something happened and no one really knows. So...Nope your out of mealworms. Zoos and alot of places are hurting till they get them back in.
They will probably ship them once they get them. Did you not think to call after a 3 days or a week? The places you ordered from probably didn't get around to adding the message on their websites. Most I deal with have been out for a month or longer. They've also got it on their main page. So I'm gonna say most that had them before and were good to their customers will still in fact be reputable. Just because they took your money for something that they would have likely sent out once they were in don't make them less reputable. Just need to communicate both ways on it.

Re: Mealworm Shortage
Literally the only place I can find them is a PETCO by my house (and only 1!). I have tried all other places. :-/

Most pet shops will have the small containers, maybe.

I did attempt to communicate with them. I had sent them two emails, a day after the order, and about 2 weeks after the order. I didn't think I needed to mention it considering it didn't answer my question. Thanks though
I would grow my own if I could get a hand on them. lol

Re: Mealworm Shortage
I was just saying that calling them would have probably gotten better results.

Re: Mealworm Shortage
It was bad food that caused the shortage. All of the major mealworm farms buy their food from the same vendor.
Super worms, and wax worms are still available in bulk. I get mine from "The Cricket Factory" They ship fast, and the count is good.

I agree with Merlin. Get some and breed your own. You don't have to do anything but feed them. It's the easiest thing to grow.

Re: Mealworm Shortage
I left a 10g tank at my parents with probably 20 worms in it to ensure my sister's gecko would be well fed, last I went over there there were probably 200 beetles, they really do breed themselves.
