Ambient light from the room would be sufficient. I never bred my crickets in complete darkness 24 hours a day, so I don't know how well they would fare in complete darkness. They are "alive" though, so a photoperiod like all other creatures would make sense.

ive read from alot of posts and sites they need to be around 88 degrees and the need light and a little bit up moisture

88 seems a little toasty...I keep mine at room temp with no issues.

Nope, no breeding, I don't really like having them around the house, the smell gets to me.

i am breeding them I have no problem with smell it just takes a few moments to take out the stuff and clean it and it saves you a bundle on crickets now on breeding mealworms ive tried and tried that super hard lol
