Hungry crickets
My son just bought a dozen large since that is the only size they had. I should say I bought them LOL. He filled the cap from the Cricket Keeper. It is about the size of a bottle cap. It is almost gone. So how long after they eat can you feed them? Are they gut-loaded now? He is waiting for her to come out. That black light is nice to use so we can watch her since she don't like to be touched.

I usually feed my crix for 24 hours before I feed them to the dragons.
I keep food in front of them the entire time

Cricket size is a problem I am having. Most of the pet stores in my area have large and small. The large are too big for my young leo and the smalls are very tiny and she eats like 10 at a feeding. So I am constantly buying the little ones.

I know exactly how you feel. One answer is to order them off the internet. Even then some suppliers are often out of stock on the in between sizes. Maybe you could preorder a box of 250 from one of your stores in the size you want.

The local (within 20 miles that is) is often out so we usually go to Petsmart. She did eat at least 3 of them along with the smaller ones that were hiding in her tank. I am not sure on her age since the couple I got her from took her in and they did not know either. This is the first time PetSmart has not had them. Not to mention these things chirp! lol
Online is cheaper but the amount of crickets is a lot. What we would do with them all? Get more Leo's?
I had to get rid of my compost worms because of the smell. I don't think hubby would care for breeding crickets.

Re: Hungry crickets
if the crix are chirping, they are adults, and likely too large for any but large adult Leopard Geckos. i don't even feed that size to my two big males. if you order a box of 250 smalls, they should last you a couple of weeks. compare the prices and see if it's more economical for you to do it that way. your petsmart will likely order them for you on a regular basis, sort of a standing order, if it works out for you. compare what they charge w/ what it would cost you including shipping to order yourself, and figure what it costs you to buy them in small quantities every few days, including gas.
good luck
