mealies
I have a crazy question and I am sure of the answer but I just want to ask it anyway.
Yesterday I was at Pet Smart buying crickets for my baby Leopard Gecko. I also asked for small mealies to give her too. This would be the first time feeding her mealies. The girl there mentioned something about making sure the mealie are small or else they will EAT through the gecko's stomach
I am sure I read somewhere that this is NOT true. But I was still a little worried after I feed them to the gecko, who by the was LOVED them.

Once again,,,never listen to pet store employees ...That would be false information. By the time the reptiles squish their heads by chewing and the acidic contents of their stomachs, theres no way it can happen.

Thanks, for the reassurance. I really didn't think it was true. But it just sounded so horrible, I had to check!
Thanks again.

Yea, I tried feeding a mealie to one of my fish...the mealie died within 15 seconds...it wont eat its way through your leopard gecko after being chewed....my Leopard Geckos eat mealies as a staple and get crickets once or twice a week. good luck !!!

Really its true and what you got to do is....
What you got to do is, cut the head off a chicken sprinkle its blood in the Leopard Geckos cage, do an acient voodoo dance which will active the chickens blood and give the leo more power, then do a rain dance to wash the blood from the cage. Now this may sound crazy but take the water in the tank and wash the mealworms in it and this chickenblood, rain water mix will disolve thier teeth. and give them to the leo. Now flush the mix down your neighbors toilet and all is gone.
Ok so its just a myth, but the way petshops tell you it sounds like you have to do that.

I love it I will definately have to try that, I am really tired of watching all my animals die that way! LOL
The funny part about that is I was told the same thing years ago by a pet shop owner in Seattle, of course my reaction was hideous!
it is a good thing I found out shortly after that was not true or I would have needed psychiatric long term care

My little leo seems to really like the mealies, actually she seems to prefer them to the crickets. Are they as nutritional as the crickets? I used to just feed her crickets, then last Thursday I added mealies and she seemed to like them. Now she wants them before she eats the crickets. I was trying to balance them out a little. But I want to make sure she is getting the proper nutrition. I dipped the mealies in the calcium powder before I feed them to her too.

Compleatly and utterly untrue. All my Leopard Geckos are feed strickly meal worms as a base diet. All have been heathy and breeding for the last 2 years with a better hatch rate then ever.
