gut loading
What do you all use to gutload your crickets. I ordered orange pieces from flukers. Is this good enough or should I be using something else to make the crickets more nutritious from my leo gecko?

You can just use regular orange slices or veggies from the store or you can buy cricket feed from the petstore.

Do you know anyone who has chickens? If so, ask them if they have any egg laying mash. Its used for chickens that are laying and has calcium in it. You can also check a local feed store and see if they have a small bag of it.

My son feeds them hermit crab food. Not the prepackaged type, but homemade foods I get from Ebay. They have that gel stuff for water. I had him using a sponge and he hated cleaning it. I don't blame him LOL

I put a bunch of stuff in mine. A variety of fresh vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans, etc), some fruits (apple, pear, banana, orange, etc), greens (kale and collard greens), whole wheat bread, monkey chow, and pheasant feed and rat food because I had some on hand. I chop it all up, mix it, and put it in a tupperware in the fridge, though it usually doesn't last long. They also get leftovers from the kitchen too, like lima beans or the leftover brocolli stalks

I just want to ask where you get monkey chow or why you had monkey chow. Midnight snack?

Haha, in North Dakota at least you can buy it at most pet stores. Nobody around there really uses it for monkeys. Rather it's used as a hard protein snack for rodents to gnaw on. I feel bad for any monkeys that actually have to rely on the stuff as a diet. It's more correctly called "monkey lab blocks" or something. The stuff I use is similar to this: http://www.thebirdstore.com/zupr/monkcw.jpg but is darker and larger. Each block kind of looks like a kiwi fruit, only half the size and not fuzzy.
