Snails and White's tree frogs
Anyone know if I can put some common brown snails in a tank with White's tree frogs? Will the frogs eat them? If they do eat them, will it hurt them? I suspect it wouldn't hurt them to eat the snails, since people eat the snails all the time, but I'd like a second opinion (or third, fourth, fifth, etc.)

I wouldn't try it. A skink can better crush a snail's shell, whereas a frog would have to swallow it whole and might have more trouble digesting an intact shell. It's just not a part of their normal diet, so I'm not sure if they could handle it or not. Besides, unless the snails move fast enough they might not even go for them to begin with.

I'm not intending to use them for food. I was planning to put them in the tank. I suspect these snails are several times to big to fit in the frogs' mouths at all.

Oh, lol, I misread the post. In that case, sure, if they're too big then I say go for it. As I said, I don't think the frogs would even go for them. Are you speaking of aquatic snails?

So you'd be buying them then? Or are these something you have introduced in your area? I've never seen them for sale alive before. I'd be tempted to get some myself if I did!

They're all over the place out here. The best way to catch them is to put a piece of cardboard out in the yard, like cut from a box, and keep it wet. Check it every couple of days, and eventually, if there are any in the area, they'll be hiding under the box.
This is the kind of snail I mean...

That's pretty cool! I love snails The garden snails around here are only about the size of a nickel and yellow.
