crickets

i just bought new crickets and I notice that some of them have what looks to be wings or something. i was just wounder what is the differance between the ones with "wings" and the ones without

It could be wings it could also be the crix shedding there skin! Nothing is different if its wings then it's just a bigger cricket they all get wings when bigger, i'm pretty sure anyways i'm not a cricket expert!! haha Good luck!

Yes you are correct...the older crickets do have wings. Younger ones do not.

The older ones are the only ones who chirp also or what ever sound they make. I really hate when I get an adult in with my cricket order and have to listen to them all night. LOL

Haha yea it sucks, I have 1/2 in crickets and I order 1000 at a time they grow wings in a week and are chirpping away sometimes! It is for sure annoying! haha

i had figured that the wings were making the chirping noise because its the first time I saw wings and also the first time for chirping and it is quite annoying especially when im trying to sleep. lol

Actually they rub there back legs together to make the sound I think.

Colleen is right, it's the action of rubbing the legs together that makes the noise.

No, actually not all crickets get wings when bigger, only males. Wings and shed are very different, no way to mix them up since they shed in one piece.
And no, crickets sing by rubbing their wings, not their feet. If you watch them closely, you'll see their wings vibrate and not their feet.
Grasshoppers and other insects produce sound by rubbing their feet together or feet against another body part.
