Would the mouse problem stem from feeder mice escaping and reproducing??? Even zoos should feed frozen thawed...

I have to point out, you have 100 snakes, your not going to want to thaw them all. Bonking is a alot faster.
Wheres the pics?

We feed all of our snakes frozen foods. We dont feed all the snakes at once. One day we will feed the vipers and other venomous snakes, then well feed boas, the pythons, then kings, rats corns, and milks. We have the exact amount of mice, rats rabbits, for each animal thawing out before we feed them.
Right now most of our kings, rats and corns are in a refridgerator for the winter,so it cuts back on our food for a little while.

They are cooling them down, giving them the equivalent of natural brumation as they would experience it in the wild. Many keepers with larger collections of colubrids do this both as a precurser to breeding as well as to keep food costs down.
Also gives keepers a bit of a break as there is not as much work involved in caring for them.

I still dont see why youd have the trouble of feeding FT though. It would be just as easy to raise them and bonk them your self. Regardless if they are fed a diffrent day. Im just looking at the time it takes to thaw to the time it takes to bonk. Plus if you feed tic and condas chickens and quail, they smell when thawing, quick little flick and one broke neck lol.

Merlin is correct. If they have the simulation of winter, especially in these months, when they come out in the spring, theyl be ready to breed for us.
mooglebass-If you feed animals that have just been killed, there could be parasites. When the rodent is frozen it kills all the parasites. So the animal doesnt get sick.Everything that is frozen is in a freezer bag and soaked in hot water to thaw it out,and it realy doesnt smell that bad.

Even if I pick up some live feeders from the store I end up freezing them before feeding them just for the purpose of parasite killing. It's better than risking a snake's health over a preference of time in my opinion.
