Food rejection?

Hi all,

not posted for some time now! been far too busy!

Now that things have settled down i'd thought I would post a question? i recently upgraded prey size to fuzzies for my cali king as I could no longer see the lump with pinkies. She has had two fuzzies since then but last night I fed her and she did not eat it! she got the head down but then could not get the rest in..... now I know that the fuzzie was obviously too big for her yet the thing I dont get is that she had two previous of equal size?

what do I do now? just she has always been a greedy little thing and would keep trying until she got it down.... Do I wait till next week and try again with a fuzzie or do I go down the pet shop and get a large pinkie to last her till next week?

Hello,

If all of the fuzzies are the same size, and she is having difficulty, you may need to downgrade sizes for a couple more weeks. You can wait until next week to try again if you want. You don't need to run down and grab her something smaller this week. If she has problems again next week, I would downgrade sizes for a few weeks til she grows enough to take the larger prey.

It amazes me sometimes how they can manage to eat things that are really too big for them. Greedy little things... I agree with Rich...if she can't manage to take one when you try her again with one of the fuzzies, I'd downsize her food for a few weeks until she's grown a little.

Its also possible that something spooked the snake and caused it to back off. When a snake is feeding it is very vulnerable and easily spooked.

There are 'peach fuzzies' which are a little smaller then the fuzzies. If your getting it at the pet store they might not know what your talking about but ask them for the sizes on their smallest fuzzies or biggest pinkies. Also, a regurge could also be a sign of the heat being to low or feeding to soon etc. all kinds of stuff. Do you know around how long it took for him to eat it? I just uped Joes food to, hope everything will be ok!
