My new "stupid" cage
Well guys here is the cage I just built. 24” deep, 47” wide, 33” tall. I have a zip-in plastic floor liner in it -- frosted clear so it is hard to see in photos but it is in there.
Right now I have it set up with a 60 W lightbulb running to see what temp it reaches with a single bulb. After 15 minutes in there it is 85 degrees F with only one 60 W bulb. This is as measured 8" off the floor and against the back wall. Up to four more lamps can be put in there with next to no additional work. This cage may make a cool cham cage if I were to replace some of the clear plastic with mesh. I will probably be putting it on classifieds on a few forums as I have no need for it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Just curious, what kind of ventilation does it have? But I think it looks great.

The walls and top are canvas to it does not have fast turn over like a mesh or screen will but is not air tight like a glass fishtank or wooden cage. The clear parts are a vinyl and are water tight but I could replace the clear with a mesh. I'm starting to think canvas like this is one of the best materials for cage walls. Dry if you want it but also great to hold and release water for humid climates, easy to clean / rid of mites, light weight, no need to seal or treat. Think about it my cages are really no different than a bag over a frame. The way this cage is built and how it fits together I would have no problem with keeping a snake in it like a medium to adult king or corn or some small python like a ball python. There are six spots where I can get my finger into a hole where if I were to continue for 25 inches I can get under the cage floor liner but it's tight around my knuckles and I don't have large hands.
The majority of the air flow will come from opening the door a few times a day as it does in my iguana cages. I literally mist and dump one to two quarts of water in my 4x4x6 ig cage daily and have never had problems with the moisture levels. I call this stupid as I built this with ZERO intention of aquiring another reptile.

mmm - I wouldn't mind having a bash at making them myself!!!
You seem to have the knack for creating very desirable and useful enclosures - maybe you should come ove to the UK and sell them here - wwe only have poo ones here lolol |
