My new ig cage

Here is my newer and much smaller ig cage.

Whole thing

Top level

Lighting arrangement -- one EB Mega-Ray flood and one Mega-heat Heat emitter (off for photo reasons)

This one is only a 4' x 4' footprint and 6' tall but a continuation of my common design. PVC frame with cloth walls and 5 mil tarp floor velcroed to the wall. The shelves and ramps are also PVC frame with fabric inner hammock that then zip together and hang from above. The door is clear PVC sheeting that zips open and closed.

This whole cage collapses into a mid sized duffel bag so I can easily move 3 or 4 times a year.

Wow! I wish I had a set up like that when we used to travel back and forth to visit my parents (5 hour drive) with Napoleon. We didn't have a proper set up at my parents house ... but this looks like it could be very portable. Hmmm you could market this for travelling herps.

Mark you never cease to amaze me. One thing I am curious about is how you attach the lighting/heating equipment. I would think the heat would be rough on the PVC.

As you can see I have lamp bases mounted and wired to a 1x10 that is then suspended from the pipe with 4 large nylon zip ties.

The PVC is fine at temps which these will reach but the PVC does start to have a hard time at lethal temperatures. I generally keep the room above 70 F (no AC in the summer and set to about 70 in the winter) and only create a nice basking spot with a MegaHeat. I won't use anything over 75 W though, if that is not able to heat enough I simply add more bulbs.

The PVC has a harder time with gravity than heat. Any hanging points must be close to a vertical support.

Same reason I have this, I move a few times a year for school. I have been trying to market this but it is slow in happening but there are a few in use across the country.

Somebody please stop me. Last night I started thinking about putting this cage aside and building a new cage to better fit in my new apartment. Currently I have one lizard but four fully functional cages.

Then theres only solution....MORE lizards

There's nothing wrong with too many cages, I have 5 setup and only one has frogs in it. The rest just have plants.

Mar,

You could drop off some here if you have too many!

Would you prefer a slap, being chained to a chair, or institutionalized?
