My CB AWD Vivarium
He everyone,
I finally got a picture of my 4 month old female Asian Water Dragon named Sasha and her Vivarium last night. Aperrantly I paid WAY too much for my digital camera because the picture quality is kinda poor. It's a little hard to see but here is a list of "features" 48" long 32" tall 18" deep and built to be expandable in the future. Lighting/heating: (all timer automated) Iguana light 5.0 75 watt basking lamp 150 watt Ceramic Heat Emitter 100 watt Infrared nightlight 2 digital thermostats 1 analog 1 500 watt max rheostat one 150 watt max rheostat Water: 8 litre pool with circulation pump/filter zoo-med waterfall Habba automatic mister (45 seconds every hour) going to try to add more misting heads to the system today. fogger on a timer (morning/evening) 1 analog hygrometer Substrate is Repti-carpet with a number of potted safe plants. various driftwood for climbing/basking at various heights 1" thick slate rock under basking light large hide cave wire screen top with access door ventilation panels on bottom right side and top left side 6mm thick tempered safety glass sliding doors Sasha is about 18" total length but I have only had her for a week and don't want to stress her too much by trying to measure/weigh her until she really settles in. -Keith |

Looks good! Did you repot your potted plants? Most mixes have lots of perlite in them that can cause serious damage to your dragon if he gets a mouthful. If not you can cover the top with a thick layer of cocohusk which should keep it safe.
Did you get a chance to add more misting heads? What type are you using? I got some nice looking drip irrigators and some nozzles from home depot but they aren't working too well under the low pressure. |

I will take some pics with a good camera and post them once developed.
Most of the plants I have have had for months and have been transplanted. The new ones I dug out the top 1" or so and replaced with sterile topsoil then covered with sphag moss. Once they have proven they will survive I will repot them. I tried adding some Orbit Dripmaster FlexMist heads but they act more like dribblers with the low pressure of the Habba. For the amount of noise it produces I thought it could handle it but it's not happening. I still have not managed to get the heat where I want it, even with a 150 watt Ceramic Heat Emitter mounted inside the viv the temp barely hits 80 near the bottom. -K |

The pics are fine. Digitals get grainy when you zoom in and when theres low light. Plus, if you zoom in you lose light anyway.. The one of the tank looks fine, I think its a lighting/zooming issue that makes Sasha's pic look that way.
Anyway, I see the latches at the top of the viv. Does the top lift up or does the front fold down? |

Reguardless of picture quality she is still cute.
What kind of digital camera do you have? You could try doing a longer exposure or using a fill flash to get rid of the noise (grain)

lol I was surprised to see the post as well.
I do have a better camera now and Sasha is alot bigger so I will try to get some fresh pics this weekend. To answer livesquids question, the top portion is 3/4 screen top (large hole) and 1/4 wood door that swings up and out to access the Ceramic Heat Emitter which is completely screened off to avoid burns to the WD. The front is dual sliding tempered glass. |
