Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Amazon Tree Boas are amazingly gorgeous snakes, and I would love to get one in the future. Probably not the near future, but eventually. Hah.
I can't find any information on them that I feel is reliable. So! I'm going to ask you guys. Haha. I've read pretty much everywhere that they're aggressive snakes. -If you get one as a hatchling, is it possible that the snake will become tame enough to let you hold it? -How big are they as adults? -Tank size? -Temp/Humidity? -How often should they be fed? I got a great deal on a 45 gal. (36x12x24 roughly) and I'm looking for someone to inhabit it. It looks like it'd be a good tank for someone smallish and aboreal. So Amazon Tree Boa is what came to mind. And jungle Carpet Python... But I don't think the tank would house one as an adult. Is that true? |

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Well with them being arboreal they have a fragile back. More so than other snakes. So handling is minimal. Feeding should normal like other snakes every 7 days. Humidity, I would mist them twice a day. So it will get to 70 to 90%. But not a constant level. As long as you provide enough branches and hiding spots you should be fine.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Hmm. Okay.
Do you know how big they get? How big of a tank they'll need as adults? |

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Mine was 3 foot or so. They spend more time coiled in a branch.
I will see if I can dig up some more info for you.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Wow, that's small.
They're such gorgeous snakes, I'd love to have one in my reptile collection someday. :] But hey, if you don't wanna look for info, it's totally fine. It'd not be any time way soon that I'd get one, if I even do. I was just curois about all this. Thank you though :]] |

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Average adult size is 5-6ft. But 7 ft has been reported.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
Ohh okay cool.
So how big of a cage do they need? I know with terrestrial snakes it should be half their length by a fourth of their length, but I have no idea what the rule of thumb is for aboreal snakes. Hah |

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
I'm not really sure. I have never kept arboreals.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Info?
I'm not really positive. I have found no care sheets with the information on how big the enclosure should be but I would say that a nice 2x3x4 tall should do the trick for one full grown animal. But since you will not want to be handling the snake much. You could also go bigger to ensure proper exercise. Good luck.
