The only one I have is this.
I was in one of our local flea markets when I came upon a vendor selling reptiles. The guy was in the process of explaining to this young man how spectacled caiman hatchlings could be kept in a 10 gallon tank to keep them from getting big.
You know the hype.
Needless to say I stepped in and explained the actual situation!
The vendor got irate and we ended up in a shouting match with him threatening to call the security on me. I invited him to go ahead and while he was at it to have the owner of the Flea market come along as well so that I could explain to him just how big a lawsuit he was in for when the animal grew up and hurt the kid after being lied to!!

My story is about rescuing a spectacled caiman. I got a call one day from some lady which says she has a "big lizard" that she can't keep and wants me to come rescue it. I had just had knee surgery (knee scope) and was on crutches at the time. I had my wife drive me to the location and this lady and her same sex partner came to the door. We alkaline go inside and in a 30 gallon aquarium is a 2 1/2 foot caiman. Inside there are pieces of bologna floating around and the poor thing is smeared with joint compound ( the stuff that is used with dry wall). The story is: She had a friend and he had the caiman in a bucket, the lady got angry and bought the caiman for $300.00 just to get it out of the situation. When I told gr I rescue reptiles, I DO NOT buy them she didn't even blink. She just wanted to see it in a better place. I took him home and scrubbed him down to remove the joint compound. I put him in a temporary 55 gallon tank with an area to get out of the water. I fwd him a couple of rats because I knew they were better than bologna for him. I then found someone to buy him. The guy has 26 years experience with crocodilians so he was my best choice. I really feel as though he was the best person to take him in. Sorry, I can't give you anything better.

Friends of mine own Maritime Reptile Adventures in Halifax, NS, Canada! There female layed eggs in the water pool in August, they weren't sure if the eggs would be viable because of being layed in the water, but two just hatched last week. They are the first Captive Breed Caiman in Atlantic Canada!

My newly wed wife called me at work because my 3 ft guy got lose when she decided to 'clean' his cage, chased her into the bath room and was scratching at the door and not leaving. Circa 1987
The only story I have is from my very first field herping experience in Costa Rica no less! I was walking through what I thought was really thick mud on the bank of a river that actually turned out to be some quick sand. And as I realized I was stuck and quickly sinking, who do I see to my right? An adult caiman! Pretty ridiculous. I'm not complaining because they're the coolest. Unfortunately the one I saw was injured.S/he had some kind of laceration and hopefully pulled through!
