I hope you don't have to catch him anytime soon! lol Out of curiosity, how does seepage work? Do you lose vast amounts of water or does it maintain its levels pretty consistently? I ask because I don't recall seeing any liner in use from the other thread. (Though I very well may have overlooked it.)

Re: Finally Filled It with Water
I was wondering that myself.

Re: Finally Filled It with Water
In the past we used a rubber liner. Out here the "soil" is red clay. Go down more than 6-8 inches and it's gumbo! When we first tested to see what we would need to line it with, we dug an 18 inch deep hole, 6 feet by 6 feet and filled it with water. We checked it every day for 2 weeks. That's when we decided we wouldn't need to line it.
We have a pump that we used in the old pond for filtering, that we haven't gotten around to sticking it in yet. We figure that once we get the greenhouse plastic on it for the "winter", it probably won't evaporate much, either. |

Re: Finally Filled It with Water
That looks great, Can't wait to see it after the "greenhouse" top has been built, I'd love to build something like this for a Large Water Monitor!

Re: Finally Filled It with Water
One thing I miss about living out there; never could get clear water though. Crocodilian ponds were so easy and cheap to do..
Here.. Sand everywhere.
