It never ceases to amaze me how ridiculous and stupid humans can be. If they had simply waited for the game warden, all of this could have been prevented. The unnecessary death of an innocent animal is always uncalled for.

Re: Untrained and Uncalled for

Sounds like he just got overconfident, and thought he could handle it. Ironically, he probably *was* a fan of Irwin's, or at least watched those animal cop shows where they have to catch gators and other exotic animals. It looks so much easier than it is, though.

People really do have strange reactions to reptiles. The automatic response is "KILL IT!" It's unlike most any other animal out there. It may be that the guy had a phobia or something.

Either way, he certainly should have known better. It's common sense.

Punctuation. It saves lives.

Re: Untrained and Uncalled for

i watched this on the news
first the guy that was bitten by the rattle snake at a resort around here, and now this.
they really need to train people on how to handle these types of situations.
although, i believe there is a law in florida that any alligator over 4 feet has to be humanely euthanized. this was not humanely done.
at least they were reprimanded.

I might be mistaken, but as I recall, the law about 4 foot or larger has to do with "nuisance" gators.

What constitutes a nuisance from one person to another is probably as dramatic as what constitutes porn from one to another or the rights of a person's religion to infringe on others' rights, from one person to another.

Re: Untrained and Uncalled for

it does say nuisance gators, im sorry
but as you said, not everyone's opinions on what is a nuisance and what isn't is not the same.

Re: Untrained and Uncalled for

Yeah. i wasn't talking about training on taking down this animal, but training in shooting someone said they fired many shoots and only hit a few times, and then didn't even kill it. Thats pitiful. And unprofessional. Also like someone else said, cops are not trained to handle this type of problem, believe me, i know. What cops are really supposed to do in this situation, is to keep everything nice, calm, and under control. Or to make sure the problem don't progress, until the Game warden, or the right people to take care of this problem arrive.

These cops were Idiots.

Yeah. And it seems these guys weren't even trained in firing a weapon straight!
