Hatchling Okeetee Identification?

I'm getting an Okeetee hatchling this week! Someone is bringing one for me! Hooray! I'm so excited!

From the one picture of an Okeetee hatchling I've seen in a snake book, they don't look like they will when they grow up and get all their color. How can I know for sure that my new little friend is actually an Okeetee, and that I'm getting what I'm paying for? Do you just have to take the seller's word for it? Can anyone tell me specific identifying characteristics for Okeetee hatchlings? Or does anyone have detailed close-up pictures of some they could post? I'd sure appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thank you!

I can't stop doing a happy dance! At last! I've been looking for one for so long!

Congratulations! Just what you've wanted for so long! Can't wait to see him/her!

A fresh hatchling will be have a very dark brown, almost black, background colour, and will have very faint orange saddles near the neck, and the other saddles will appear greyish,. the yellow will develop in time. The yellow will bring out the oranges and the reds as the corn snake grows.

A young oaketee looks almost like an anertherystic but with the faint orange saddles.. post pics as soon as you get him/her!!

Bitis couldn't have explained it any better !!!! hatchlings look nothing like adults. I'm so happy for you Juliane as I know how much you've wanted one just from our conversations the last few months,,,,though I must say,,,,,,as Ken sighs,,,,,,I want a baby too !!!!!!

I'm still holding my breath because I can't believe it's true. I guess I'll breathe again when I've got the little fellow/girl really and truly at home. He/she is going to take over Spectre's tank because Spectre's moving up in the world! My daughter saved and saved to buy him a 30 gallon long All-Glass Critter Cage. Spectre moves in tonight! He'll have lots and lots of exploration room, don't you think?

That is not always true. I have personally seen hatchling okeetees that already had the bright orange background color. Just looking at them you had no doubt that they were okeetee. Also there are some variations in the coloring of okeetees and some will look more like the "ideal" okeetee than others. But they are all beautiful snakes!

You are probably just going to have to take the sellers word for it!

Owww my knees are too old for this!
