She didn't make it..

well, peppermint (the snake that regurged in my last post) didn't make it. i finally got a vet appointment which would be 3:30 on april 8. but she passed away april 7..i called the breeder when she was Looking really really bad, he came over with Looking, but he was to late, she was dead by the time he got here. he said sometimes when snakes Looking it messes up their esophagus or something . then the breeders wife comes over, and has a deli cup with something very orange in it...it was a striped amyl, or a striped motley baby corn snake. i have named that orange snake sunny, keller, who I thought was a male, is actually a female, and sunny is a male.
R.I.P. Peppermint, i'm sure you in a better place now..2005-2006.

This is sunny, the snake the breeders wife came and gave me.

Now keller and sunny together..

(They are pretty much the same size, and both love their food)
this shot was taken right after sunny bit me about 3 times...yes totally my fault I forgot to wash my hands after I touched the pinkie bag.

and here's keller eating

sorry for not posting in a while, i just got around to it.

I'm sorry that you had to lose Peppermint and Sunny is a beautiful snake. Its nice of the breeders to give you a replacement.
Now I have to rain on your parade.
You just broke one of the cardinal rules of snake keeping.
Never EVER bring in a new animal and put it with an existing one. You never know how healthy the new one is or what it is carrying. You should always quarantine any new arrival for at least a month. I would also strongly suggest fecal tests done for both well. If you housed Peppermint and Keller together Keller may have picked up whatever killed Peppermint. And contrary to what would sound like common sense captive bred snakes are not necessarily parasite free.
Good luck with both of them!

So sorry to hear about Peppermint, unfortunately life sometimes brings these sad occasions

Sunny is beautiful - paritial motley/part stripe, lovely morph. I hope she does well for you.

I was going to mention the quarantine issues, but Merlin beat me to it For your sake, and the snakes', make sure you house Sunny separately from Keller and don't put them near each other for the quarantine period, just in case the new snake is carrying anything that could be passed on. Also, it's generally a good idea to leave the snake for a week before handling and feeding, and once fed do not handle for a couple of days.

I hope Sunny settles in nicely, you have two beautiful corns there, and I'm sure Peppermint is over the rainbow with all our lost ones.
