Regurgatating Food

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up this morning and my little corn snake had regurgatated his food . I fed him two days ago and I'm not sure why he would have done this , but is it okay for me to try and feed him again or should I wait a few days

That's exactly why he regurgitated. You are feeding him too often. He should only be fed a prey item about the size of the widest girth of his body every 7 to 10 days. Sorry, but definately cut back on your feeding schedule.

I feed my smaller snakes every 5-7 days and the larger ones every 10-14 days. If you are feeding every two days he is going to keep regurgitating. I suggest you wait at least another 5 days to feed him again.

The last time he was fed was on 12/17 so it had been over a week since his last feeding . I should have wrote that he had regurgatated the pinky I gave him 2 days ago . Sorry for the confusion

Ok, now I understand. Make sure you dont handle him for at least 36-48 hours after a feeding. He might have regurgitated due to stress. Wait a couple days and then try to give him another pinkie.

There are a few main reasons that snakes regurg. Improper temperatures, stress (disturbing after eating), food item that is too big, or a parasite infestation. First thing is check your temperatures. Is there a hiding place in the tank? Is the tank in a high traffic area where it would be disturbed by a lot of activity or noise?

I would wait at least a week before trying to feed again to let the snake settle down. In the regurgitation it lost some of the ability to digest. If fed too soon it will regurge again and lose even more. if after a week you feed and it regurges again take it to a good herp vet for a parasite test.

Agreed, Merlin... The tank temps in the basking area need to be 85-90 for proper digestion, and the snake needs peace and quiet for a couple of days to settle after a meal. We have a corn that had a recurring regurg/vomiting problem, to the point that we're feeding an adult male corn small juvie rats once a week as a regular thing now. I'd give him a week to let his system recover from the regurg, then try him again on a very small pinkie (from what you said, your corn is a small juvenile...?) See how he does after that, keep us posted!

The Temps in the tank are fine and he does have several hiding spots available .Yes he is a juvie corn . I found out last night that the kids had him out and I think that may be what caused it to regurge
