My too thin baby corn

I checked on my baby snow today and just couldn't wait 'til tomorrow to feed her, because the skin was already in folds, which I actually noticed after I bought the snake.I was afraid that she might be starving and also the snake lady at the store said she would'nt wait longer than a week,so I fed her two pinkies today! She ate very well and was VERY hungry. Now I hopes he keeps it!
Now my question is;is my baby in any danger of starving if she would regurgate again and she already is too thin?Does she have any chance?
She is so very tiny for a March'05 hatchling! And her skin looks like it has edges and folds along his body.Oh I wish I had this camera, but have to wait 'til next week end to borrow it.Thanks for your reply
By the way,I couldn't see any hemipenes when I held her against the light,so I guess it's defenetly a baby girl. But I had a feeling it was, don't know why!

It's not so much a danger of starving as it is dehydration. When they regurg they lose stomach fluids and digestive enzymes. Its a bit late now but I would have only given one pinky at a time. After regurgitation the ability to digest is reduced. I would leave the snake completely alone for a week and see what happens. However if the snake regurges again I would get it to a vet immediately for a parasite check.
A healthy feeding baby is not going to suffer if it is not fed every single week. However from your description, assuming that the snake is not needing to shed, this snake has not been being fed properly or else has a parasite problem.

Thanks Merlin.I know that the pet store I got her from is still learning how to take care of reptiles. One of the girls learned quite a bit from me ,of what I learned, and I think she's grateful for that, but the next thing I need to tell them is the feeding schedule of baby corns or snakes in general, because they had my Sina for a year or so before I bought her and for her age she was very tiny! The 'snake-lady' at the other store thought that maybe they got the birth date wrong, but I checked with them and they said the date is correct. So they really don't feed them well.Next time I go there I need to tell them.I hope it's that and not a parasite problem!!!

I'd just make sure the temperature is warm enough on the warm side for good digestion, and leave her alone for a week as Merlin said. Merlin gives great advice

Yes Juliane,Merlin is great and I always hope that I get some advices from him and from all the others with lots of experience!!
She kept the pinkies so far;fingers crossed!!I had to clean her today and I think she wasn't stressed too much.I hope on day 3 she still keeps the pinkies inside!! I think if she does, then she is well and I don't need to worry anymore about my sweet, tiny Kenisha!

Well, bit late I guess for advice on your original post but my initial reaction was that of Merlin's - it would have been better to feed her just one pinky, but too late now If she has kept the pinkies down so far then she will probably be fine, and should be due a toilet visit any time now!

The description you give does sound a little worrying though,. it would be better once we can see a picture. As Merlin said, unless she is coming up to a shed, then I would suggest, from your description, that she either has parasites or hasn't been fed any where near enough. Our oldest hatchling corns, that still haven't been sold, were hatched in June, and are on two pinkies at a time, so that should give some indication of what a corn hatched in March should be on and also how big. When feeding her two pinkies does this make an obvious impression? - snakes grow at different rates, and our adult female snow didn't catch up to our anery and oaketee for a long time, and was always smaller, but at 5 months old I would expect the corn to be on at least 3 pinkies per week.

Don't fret unnecessarily though - see how she goes, and if she keeps this food down, which it sounds like she has, try her again in a few days and keep a close eye on her. And post some pics!!

Thanks Bitis! All my snakes seem to have had a bad start in life, because they are all smaller than all of you tell me! My sinaloan was still a baby size at age 19month!! And I bought them all at the same place! I think they feed the babies once a week, where you should feed every 5-7days?!

Jacky feeding once a week is just fine. I have raised every snake I have on a once a week feeding schedule. It may be that the shop (or the shop's supplier) were not feeding regularly, were feeding insufficient sized prey, or the snakes have parasites.

Or a combination of all of the above.

Yes Jacky, absolutely, feeding only once per week is fine. Babies can be fed more frequently, but it is not a neccessity, just that their metabolism is faster so they can digest quicker and are growing. Pet shops often feed less often or less food to save on overhead costs, so although a baby corn may be ready for three pinkies per week they will still feed just one - this is not cruel to the corn and means that the pet shop isn't spending so much on something that is supposed to be making it profit.

I bought my Ball Python, Monty, from the same store, Jacky, and he had both mites and tapeworms! He may have been a farmed import, but either way, I'd have stool samples taken in on all your snakes, because the tapeworms could also be transmitted by live feeder mice.
Do you weigh your snakes regularly? I think it's better to go by weight as well as "just looking". I usually weigh my snakes after each defecation and before feedings. It fluctuates a bit, but I can usually see an overall pattern of gaining or losing. (I use a kitchn scale -- not the same one I use in my kitchen, though!!)
