A wonderful experience!
I had the most amazing experience today when I had my 4 month snow baby out;while she was in my hand I prepared her pinky and as I was going to see if it's ready thawed, she looked down from my hand on the pinky and just watched. It was the cutest thing! Then I thought I try to feed her right here and not in her feeding box.And guess what, she ate it right on my hand,WOW,what a big amount of trust this little animal has,and I haven't had her not even a month, and I only now started 'working' with her. She's the most amazing character.I am soo happy about that!!
I thought I had to share this with you.Anybody had similar experience?

Yes, I know exactly how you feel Mine will all eat out of my hand, but I was warned by everyone here at HC not to continue doing that or eventually they'll associate my hand with food, make a mistake, and bite me...
So I don't do it anymore *sigh*, but I enjoyed it the times I did. It was amazing!

very cute...most of mine are voracious eaters not calm...and I've always had in mind to do shows for kids bdays so have always wanted to feed them in the least invasive way...which is why I feed them in their cages...if I had to travel to a party I'd have to put them in a smaller cage or bag so don't want them to associate being moved into another container with feeding either...

I really don't know if I believe the whole associate-hand-with-food hype to be honest - ours have never done so, and we have to feed many of our snakes in their enclosures, and this doesn't cause them to associate us going in their tanks with food either. If they are hungry then perhaps they look about and get ready to strike, if not they don't bother.
Anyway, sounds like a cute experience. I would also not recommend feeding her on your hand, just because this can become a bit of a hassle - you have to keep very still while the snake feeds, and could stress the snake out, however, having said this, a friend of ours, who bought one of our hatchling corns from us, feeds his the same way you did and all is fine there. Just a personal preference I think. Anyway, when do we get to see pics of this snow??

I think that when a snake is stressed out she wouldn't eat,so I think it doesn't do any harm to feed it from time to time on the hand, but I already decided not to do it anymore. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me.She's better off in the feeding box.But she is such a sweety, and she kept the food in this time, for those who know the story.Fingers crossed!
About the pics;I have to borrow the camera off the daughter of my boss, and she was away for a while (dancing on the love-parade,which is a techno-party in the streets of Zurich,LOL),but I hope to get it this coming weekend!
Juliane, try using tongs;I feed all of my snakes with tongs.I never put the pinky just in the box.Using tongs you see much quicker if they are hungry or not,and it's more fun for them, because I always wiggle the mouse in front of them until they strike. It's fun for them and fun for you,LOL!It's so cute when they strike!
