Switch to newspaper, it gives them less area to hide in and treat the whole enclosure, I am not one to overdo treatments so I would do one and check to see if there are visible signs of mites. Wait a day or two and reaaply if necessary.

Clean and disinfect the cage and whatever is in it, and definately switch to newspaper or papertowel for substrate, easier to spot mites, plus less places for them to hide at, we used reptile relief to try out when we first got it in at the shop, we didn't like it at all, we use provent a mite. So I can't be much of a help on advice with that product.

Some of the mite treatments are difficult to get in Canada. I was able to order Reptile Relief but I got impatient waiting for it :P I ended up using Nix shampoo meant for head lice. I mixed 1/2 a bottle in 1 gallon of water and thoroughly cleaned the tank and soaked the hide in it. I dipped the snake in it as well (not the head) and rubbed his head with the stuff on my hands. That was on Tuesday and there has been no sign of them, keeping fingers crossed. Good luck and please let us know how the Reptile Relief works for you.

I use reptile relief with great results. If you only have one snake especially it will work. Move your snake to a seperate container container, preferably soaking in plain water. Thoroughly disinfect his enclosure with 3:100 bleach:water. Put only papertowels as a substrate. About 2 papertowels thick. Use a papertowel roll as a hiding place and a small plastic dish for water. This way there's no crevices for the mites to hide in. After doing this spray the entire enclosure with reptile relief. Moisten a paper towel with the reptile relief and run it down the length of the snake making sure to get his entire body (less the head). If there are any mites in his eyes you can remove them. It requires a very steady hand and a very complacent snake. Spray the cage and wipe down the snake daily for 3 days. Stop treatment for 2 days and retreat for 3 days. They will usually be gone after the first treatment. I just recommend a second treatment just in case. Make sure that the snake's shed is removed immediately when noticed (incase there's anymore mites in his eye sockets. They'll come off with the eye caps). When all the mites are gone, you can replace with your original cage furnishings.
