Hello,

Rayne, my snow corn, is pretty easy to care for in comparison to some of my other reptiles. We have a caresheet on Cornsnakes found here:

http://www.herpcenter.com/showthread.php?t=2729

They are a great beginner snake.

Corn snakes, in my opinion, have to be the best starter snake. They are docile and tame, don't get too big, are easy to care for and come in a variety of beautiful colours.

We have 6 corn snakes, which are in their first year of breeding for us and have produced some beautiful babies - see my thread in the corn snake forum. As Rich said, check out our care sheet for info on their care.

I have to agree with Rich and Rachel. I got my first corn snakes in December an I am also up to 6. They are easy to maintain and house. Good luck and keep us posted.

Our three are extremely easy to take care of...feed them once a week, change out a few soiled paper towels two or three times a week, and make sure the water is fresh and clean...they're very nice snakes. Some can be a little flighty like my Pumpkin Jack is, but others are very calm like my Sally and my daughter's Spectre. Jack has calmed down quite a bit since we got him last October, and I think he'll continue to mellow as he grows up. Flighty as he is, he's never even offered to bite anyone. He just tries to squiggle away and hide. Spectre and Sally have never bitten either.

Beware though....corn snakes are very addictive! My guess is that if you get a corn, you'll fall in love and have to have more. I speak from personal experience, of course

I totally agree with everyone else. Corns are great first snakes. They come in a wide variety of colors, they are usually docile, they don't get very big, and are very hardy.

I have had mine for about 5 years and couldn't be happier with her.

i love my corns. i started out with just one my snow Blizzard and then I loved him so much I had to get another so I ended up with Bullet. before I ended up with my second corn however I got my rosy boa Chaos. i love all three of them very much. i could not ask for better snakes or ones that were easier to take care of. i find reptiles very addictive and hope in the future to add a leopard gecko and even more.

thanks for sending your thoughts. I am getting a leopard gecko for my 11th birthday which is in 23 days. I am thinking about having a cornsnake some time.
