Sad story!

Today I was reading on a German forum where a woman was asking about reptile vets in her area, because a mouse bit her corn. But the snake didn't bleed but was not moving, but was terrified of that mouse!!So her husband took the snake to the vet and sadly he had to put the snake down.
The mouse bit the snake in the carotid artery
But the strange thing was that the snake was bleeding from the inside!

I think it's sad that so many people still feed life rodents!
They gave that killer mouse to an other snake!!
People will never learn!
It's also strange to me that they keep animals but don't know a vet in their area!!
Poor snake!

That is a sad story. Unfortunetly rodent attacks happen to often. I feed live rodents to a few problem feeders which will not take prekilled or thawed. Just got to keep your eyes wide open when feeding live and be ready to put an object for the rodent to bite on if the snake doesnt have a clean strike. But, as a neonate I believe the first priority should be to get the animal on prekilled or thawed.

But even if you keep your eyes wide open, you never can be as quick as a mouse bites!! So better be safe than sorry and feed thawed !!

I always feed f/t Jacky, but if it was a choice between my snake dying from starvation because they refused to feed, or feeding live, i would feed live.

This is a sad story, but it can happen, and if live is ever needed to be fed your eyes shouldn't wander for a second. It's not ideal to feed live but for some it is necessary.

I agree though that if it can be helped f/t is always the better option, for both rodent and serpent.
