I would go with a half grown. With an adult you really have no idea how old it is unless you are getting from a reputable dealer. It would be a bad deal to get one that is in old age and won't be around long.
You can check herp shows. Also there are reputable online breeders that you could go through that may have some older snakes available. The drawback there is you cannot handle the snake and see what type of temperment they have. Be aware though that you will probably pay substantially more for an older snake than you would a hatchling. They have been housing feeding and caring for the snake for some time after all and their time is worth something. Check out www.Corn-u-topia.com or www.Serpenco.com to see what they have available

Have you tried a local independent petstore ? We found both Tolkien and Ringo at our local shop and both were year old juvies (more $$ than hatchlings) and they usually have a good mix of various ages/morphs....

i would be careful where you got it from, i got 4 corns at a show 5 months ago and they have not been feeding well. just ask alot of questions, the more reputable places will have no problem answering your questions.

I first wanted adult corns and asked people at a swiss forum,'cause I thought maybe I could adopt them from people who don't want them anymore.Or get a reptile magazin and look at the advertising-in a german magazin I saw A LOT!! I was surprised how many people want to get rid of their animals!! Some girl send me a picture of her 11 year old corn. She said the snake is very shy and likes to bite.I asked her why at that age she is like that and the girl said she got her as adult and the snake had a bad childhood!! I guess with adopting older snakes it's a bit like with adopting dogs-it can be difficult,'cause you'll never know what the animal has been gone through!
Anyway.I heard that for a beginner it is better to get a semi-adult or adult, but how will you get the experience then??! Now I decided to get baby corns and if they eat ok,there shouldn't be a problem for a beginner! And you see your animal grow up,and will know it very well by the time it's a grown-up! Why does your daughter want an adult? Wouldn't it be a great experience for her to see the animal grow?! How old is she? |

My daughter is 14. We currently have two corn babies (Jack and Sally), and one Children's Python baby (Ky-Lin), plus her corn snake Spectre was a baby when we got him and he's half-grown now, so she's getting plenty of experience with baby snakes and watching them grow.
She just decided she'd like to find a snow corn, and thought it might be neat to adopt an adult if she could find one.

How old are Jack and Sally now?
Can't recommend anywhere specific for you to look, as the places we go obviously won't be of any use however we go on two main classifieds, where you can find everything for sale.Juvs and adults are more expensive than hatchlings, although still not very expensive as they are only corns,. maybe you can place an ad somewhere requesting a snow corn? Good luck with your search,. we have a snow corn who is growing into a fine beauty, and may well be pregnant as I type! ![]()

That's wonderful, Bitis! I'm crossing my fingers for you and wishing you well with your snow corn! Can you post a picture of her? I'd love to see one
![]() I'm not sure how old Jack and Sally are except that we got Jack in November and Sally in December and they were very little.

Ah still quite young then.
Do you know what sex they are? Here's a pic of our three adult female corns, all of which are very bottom heavy so I suspect we will be feeling eggs in them all in the next couple of weeks - fingers crossed!! There's Huey, the oaketee, Haydes the anery, and Snowball the snow (Not a very good picture, taken about a year ago, will try and get some better ones soon,.)Have also attached a pic of Arrow, our amel motley who is gravid and about to pop! Good luck with your search, i hope you find the snow you want. I didn't used to like snow corns too much but watching Snowball grow has really made me love them - when she was a hatchling she was very pink, and as she has grown she now has hints of yellow, green and pink all over her, a very beautiful phase. ![]()
