Interesting Behavior
So I was misting down my snakes today, when I saw something that I found quite amusing.
My cornsnake, Rose, is smack dab in the middle of a shed cycle. So I misted her, and noticed that she was drinking the water off of herself. Could this mean that she is not drinking our of her water dish? She hides under it all the time. Well after I noticed this, I picked her up, and placed her in her water. She proceeded to drink from it as well. I wonder if she feels too vulnerable since she is "purple" to come out and drink?

Re: Interesting Behavior
Many of my snakes will do this as well, even though I know they are drinking from the bowl because I see them.
I'm not quite sure of the reasoning behind it other than in the wild there might be more opportunity for them to lap up dew or rain than to have access to standing water. Its not anything to worry about.

Re: Interesting Behavior
It was interesting to watch. I just have never seen her do this before. She also appears to be the only one of my snakes that halfway enjoys misting.
Poor girl looks like cotton candy, since she is orangish and redish normally. ![]()

Re: Interesting Behavior
My iguana wont drink from a dish or from the bath tub but he likes water droplets. He'll also drink from my cupped hands, but not anywhere else, he's a weirdo.
