Attention Red Tail Boa Owners!
I need help! I am shopping for a new snake, and I think a red tail boa is the one I've chosen. I have yet to decide where to get it, so if you breed, send me a PM about babies you might have. I want to see pictures of your lovelies and any information on the joys or discomforts of having a red tail boa.
Thanks in advance!

I have a suriname red tail boa named Libi and shes an absolute sweetheart!
some joys of having her is shes not only gorgeous but has a great temperment, never refuses a meal(cept the one time the rat was too big) and shes easy to care for. I really dont have anything bad to say about owning her lol...never had any major problems with her...

My Maggie Mae is a "common" boa (I HATE the term comon!) She is approx
4ft long, very easy to handle, and has never refused a meal. Just be aware that boas will get to be a large, heavy bodied snake. This entails expenses with regarding to housing and feeding. Females do get larger than males.
My lady was with me recently at our specialty Herp Shop and saw an adult female boa.
She gasped "She's going to get THAT big!"
I just grinned and looked very innocent!

I am fully aware they get large. I think I would prefer to have a male since I'm not ready for something that's 10 feet or larger, but I could handle one for sure. I'm really excited about this whole thing and seeing yours just made me even more excited! Eeek! She's gorgeous by the way! Anyone else out there wanna share?

I have (my husband has actually) a Suriname red tail boa and he's a brat, he bites and has regurged before, also, he doesn't like to eat rats yet. Though not all RTBs are this tempermental, he's probably a special case as I don't think he's used to being handled much and is used to being fed in his cage.

Not necessarily true.
quoted from VPI.com Common Boa sheet

Large specimens attain considerable bulk and may weigh 40-50 pounds. Adult specimens in most U.S. collections average about 4½-8 feet in total length. The maximum size of this form purportedly approaches 12 feet in total length, but the biggest we have seen were 9-10 feet long.

Add to this the fact that many dealers use the term "redtail boa" for both boa constrictor constrictor and boa constrictor imperator.
All I am saying is be prepared for something considerably larger than a ball python or cornsnake.
Though not in the range of a retic or burmese this is still a lot of snake!
