Just an update-

Ben, my big Haitian female (7 1/2' or so), is ovulating. There are no other Haitians around in my community but from everything I'm seeing, it's not an extremely uncommon snake, but IS very very dark. Frenchie has shown a lot of interest in her so we're gonna see what happens, from everything we're seeing these Scorias were a grandfathered accident from a couple of normal-looking BCCs. Since this is such a ridiculously young project (going on four years or so I believe) we're going to go this route ATM to determine whether the gene is recessive or co-dom, the two leading arguments at the moment. Jeff, who started the project, is doing the same thing with another normal looking pair from the original parents.

After that, we'll give Frenchie time to recover, this will let our on-the-way het female put on a few more pounds. Next season we'll introduce them to each other; meanwhile we'll continue to see what happens with the babies we'll hopefully get this year. Our lucky pair is doing quite well at the moment, temps have dropped into the seventies and Frenchie is riding Ben around like a champ and spurring. *fingers crossed*
